Helping your body outside of the session

Because of the pandemic, you may be reluctant to get a massage. Or, perhaps your practitioner has not returned to working. Here are some recommendations to help your body while you’re at home.

I previously posted this, I think in 2015 - how time flies! - and it seemed useful to revisit it.

Take care of your body’s physical structure.
* Use a foam roller or ball at home, 1-2x/week for 10-15 minutes
* Stretch regularly or do Yoga, Pilates, and/or Tai Chi
* Walk most days
* Avoid long periods of sitting; stand up every 20-30 minutes and move around if you can
* Take a warm bath with Epsom salts
* If available, get massage or SI sessions before issues become too uncomfortable. It’s better to intervene early.

Engage in general wellness.
* Get enough sleep and maintain good sleep hygiene like keeping regulars hours and avoiding screen time an hour before bed.
* Eat a healthy diet
* Manage stress - practice mindfulness or meditation; engage in hobbies and (socially distant) activities
