Using a game to live better

If you have a project to complete, a goal to achieve, or a problem to overcome, the psychology of gaming might help.

Dr. Jane McGonigal has a method to try. Her book and app are called SuperBetter. She developed this gameful  process when she was recovering from a concussion.

SuperBetter employs the psychology and benefits of games, particularly digital games, to help people meet goals and achieve personal growth. The elements of the game include daily quests to build a series of  small successes, finding allies, rebuilding energy, and epic wins. People have used her game for everything from running for city council to living well with cancer.

I am just starting a SuperBetter challenge and am curious to see how it turns out. When  you next have something you want to accomplish, maybe you could give SuperBetter try, too.

I have previously written about the author’s sister, Dr. Kelly McGonigal and The Upside of Stress. They seem like a talented and wise family!
