Remember to Savor

Friends and I took an online science of happiness class. In this class, Dr. Laurie Santos explains what truly makes people happy versus what they think makes them happy. One of the things that evokes true happiness is savoring. Do you take the time to savor and enjoy something completely?

I am trying to be more mindful with what I take in through my senses and savor the good stuff. This week, I have savored seeing beautiful spring ephemeral flowers and the fragrance of flowering crab apple trees. This morning I savored the fruit I had with breakfast. I enjoyed wearing a shirt that has particularly soft fabric.

Savoring brings focus and keeps us in the present moment. It can be a mini meditation or a deep immersive experience.

I don't always remember to savor. When I do, it brings true happiness.
