Mindfulness-based stress reduction
Structural Integration is a process that can help you feel better physically. Some people also experience improvements in how they feel mentally or emotionally.
However, other techniques to improve how one feels mentally or emotionally may be called for. The one I am most familiar with is called mindfulness-based stress reduction. The person who popularized this technique is Jon Kabat-Zinn, from the University of Massachusetts Medical School. You can read his book, Full Catastrophe Living, or take a class on it. A local center that offers classes on mindfulness meditation is Common Ground Meditation Center. I am sure there are others, too.
A more recent book has a similar theme is called Train Your Brain, Engage Your Heart, Transform Your Life. This book also talks about research on how your brain works, which I found very interesting. This book was written by a doctor at the Mayo Clinic – here’s the article from Mayo’s library blog.
