Benefits of Touch
A review of more than 200 published studies on touch therapies confirmed that healthy touch reduces pain, depression, and anxiety in adults.
This review was in Nature Human Behaviour in April, 2024. The reviewers evaluated studies that compared touch and no-touch therapies and took measures to avoid bias.
They found that touch reduced pain, depression, and states of anxiety in adults and children. In newborns, it helped increase weight. The frequency counted ,too - more interventions gave better results.
